Postrock translucency - a new mp3-single “Traffic” by Preesens
NMC is delighted to release a brand new mp3-single by Preesens. The band’s intensive, layered postrock song “Traffic”, starting with a brisk bass line, is woven together from varying ambiences, momentary translucent melodic revelations and rhythmical clockworks.
The song in Jussi’s words:
“This is what got done. We know. It’s too big, too long, too pathetic, too serious for this light-headed skim milk era. But please, try to concentrate.”
We say: be brave… Listen to Traffic.
And Jussi continues:
“Traffic was recorded in Studio Mankku, our band base, Studio Kekkonen and the church of Korso. In Mankku and Kekkonen we worked with Julius Mauranen who recorded, mixed and co-produced the stuff. There was this nice Italian cheese organ (that’s how Mr. Mauranen called it) in Mankku, from which we got the crystal rain like synth sound to the song. It has to be mentioned that the computer game Dolphin
Olympics 2 did have something to do with us getting the idea of using this kind of sound. A hypnotic accompaniment to a dolphin reaching above the moon. Phew. The brass was played by Tuomas Saloniemi (tuba), Joonatan Portaankorva (trumpet), Ville Nissinen (trombone) and Hannes Kaukoranta (French horn). We want to thank them as well as Julius Mauranen.”
